ALPHA TIGER New album iDENTITY out on January 19

There are a number of significant features which help to distinguish a good metal act from an outstanding one. Musical skills, strong songwriting qualities and a professional performance are some of the prerequisites which every band should have, but much more important is an individual style, an independent artistic signature, a band’s own trademark. Alpha Tiger from Freiberg in Saxony have found their own DNA. Their latest album is not only called iDENTITY, it also presents precisely that individual profile. “When we released our debut album Man Or Machine in 2011, it was greeted by raving reviews because lots of fans felt reminded of the golden age of heavy metal. Although this was an ideal start for us, it was nothing we wanted to limit ourselves to,“ guitarist and main songwriter Peter Langforth explains, adding: “Instead of remaining in the comfort zone of our newly-acquired fan base, our second release Beneath The Surface already saw us develop more individualistic and topical traits without straying too far from our basic style. We’ve completed this process on iDENTITY, now we sound the way we always felt Alpha Tiger should.”

A pretty courageous step to leave the as Langforth calls it “comfort zone” of posittive fan reactions in favour of a stronger stylistic identity. While Beneath The Surface still featured the influence of acts such as Queensryche, Fates Warning and Riot, the quintet now sounds unmistakably like Alpha Tiger. It’s all in the mix: the basis of the band’s deeply melodic sound is their impressive songwriting which is rooted in the tradition of classic heavy metal while featuring concise guitar riffs and haunting vocal melodies at the same time. On iDENTITY, Alpha Tiger succeed in blending those traditional patterns with a contemporary and topical sound without losing their vitality and dynamism. No wonder: The latest recording by the five-piece was cut under the direction of Mirco ‘Godi’ Hildmann (Guano Apes, among others) and Dominik Glöckner at Berlin’s Music Flash Studio. The nine songs plus intro were produced by Alpha Tiger themselves, before being mixed and mastered by Tommy Newton (UFO, Victory, Gamma Ray) at the Area 51 Studio in Celle. The decisive factor of their overall sound is vocalist Stephan Dietrich, whose powerful voice gives the songs their own personality and pace.

Talking of which: the pace of the haunting opener ‘Lady Liberty’ is almost tangible: “To me, ‘Lady Liberty’ is a prime example of how to write a short song. In the past, our material occasionally tended to get a little out of hand, whereas ‘Lady Liberty’ has everything this number needs and not a single note that isn’t absolutely necessary,” Langforth explains. ‘Closer Than Yesterday’ reveals a whole lot of other strengths, in a way a perfect antithesis to ‘Lady Liberty’. This time, Alpha Tiger have added a Hammond organ and synthesisers to their sound, and the result is a heavy ballad in the style of Journey and Survivor. With its lyrics about the fulfilment of dreams, ‘Closer Than Yesterday’ counts among the highlights on iDENTITY, just like the first single release ‘We Won’t Take It Anymore’. “We usually take weeks working on a song, but ‘We Won’t Take It Anymore’ was completed within a mere two days. Seems like I was pretty pissed off during those two days, which you can hear from the lyrics because a lot of admittedly positive aggression on is discharged in the song. Stephan brings those emotions across brilliantly.”

iDENTITY will be available in three formats: as a Digipak including DVD featuring recordings from Alpha Tiger’s performance at the Bang Your Head festival in June 2013, as a jewel case and as a gatefold vinyl LP.

Release Dates in 2015 are: Scandinavia January 14th, Germany January 16th, Europe January 19th and USA January 20th!

Following the advance release of ‘Lady Liberty’ in early summer 2014, Alpha Tiger have shot a video to support their new single ‘We Won’t Take It Anymore’. The band are also planning a number of spectacular release shows to follow the album launch entitled ‘Alpha Tiger & Friends’, which are scheduled to feature a number of the group’s pals.

So everything is ready: the new album iDENTITY presents the musicians Peter Langforth, Stephan Dietrich, Alexander Backasch (guitar), Dirk Frei (bass) and David Schleif (drums) as a mature and independent metal act who are guaranteed to win lots of new fans with their upcoming live shows.

The following four new Rock Candy titles are all available now from www.rockcandyrecords.com for a discounted price including postage to anywhere in the world for the next two weeks ending on 16th November.

DAMN YANKEES 'S/T' CANDY196

SUPERGROUPS COME and go; often in an initial blaze of glory and then more often than not disappear in a puff of smoke due to a half-assed work ethic and the sound of clashing egos. This was not the case with Damn Yankees, a veritable Sm'rg'sbord of prime time American musical hard rock talent: Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw (Styx), Jack Blades (Night Ranger) and drummer Michael Cartellone. A four man wrecking crew who came together with the objective of celebrating not only their considerable reputations but also to establish a new beachhead for further success.
Formed in late 1988 in New York City, the band quickly solidified via a series of rehearsals and a demo that led them to sign a record deal with Warner Brothers, who promptly put them in the studio with renowned producer Ron Nevison (Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, UFO, Heart), a man with not only great chops but also a certain hard working reputation. Recorded in Los Angeles, the record exceeded all expectations, providing the band with a springboard to double platinum success, a #13 place on the Billboard LP chart and an impressive run of sold out live dates.
Musically, the band were firing on all six cylinders, notching up an impressive number of hits and anthems such as 'Come Again', 'Coming Of Age', 'Runaway' and the massively successful power ballad 'High Enough', a song that reached #3 on the US singles chart.

Special Deluxe Collector's Edition, fully remastered sound, one bonus track, 16 page full colour booklet, new interviews, 3,000 word essay, enhanced artwork and rare photos.

TRACK LISTING: 1. COMING OF AGE 2. BAD REPUTATION 3. RUNAWAY 4. HIGH ENOUGH 5. DAMN YANKEES 6. COME AGAIN 7. MYSTIFIED 8. ROCK CITY 9. TELL ME HOW YOU WANT IT 10. PILEDRIVER BONUS TRACK: 11. BONESTRIPPER (Single B-Side)

WINGER 'S/T' CANDY257

RATHER UNFAIRLY Winger were lumped into the 80s hair metal scene. However, it was an easy mistake to make considering Kip Winger's drop dead gorgeous looks and the band's penchant for penning memorable and melodic rock of an altogether addictive nature. However, beneath the fancy looks was a band of enormous depth, containing members that had already notched up years of experience and played with several demanding and high calibre artists.
The band were fronted by, Denver native, Kip Winger, and signed to industry heavyweight Atlantic Records, the rest of the band consisting of guitarist Reb Beach (who had worked with Fiona), keyboard player Paul Taylor (previously with Alice Cooper) and former Dixie Dreggs drummer Rod Morgenstein. Originally issued in 1988, and produced by man of the moment Beau Hill, the album caused an immediate stir with its seductive blend of heavy, yet melodic, rock suggesting that Winger's talent was very much in the same realms as Bon Jovi and Foreigner.
Indeed, such was the excitement surrounding the album that it achieved platinum status and made them a fixture on MTV, all helped by their good looks and fully formed songs such as 'Madalaine', 'Hungry', 'Headed For A Heartbreak' (a top twenty US hit single this one) and the superhumanly catchy 'Seventeen'; a tour de force of perfection.

Special Deluxe Collector's Edition, fully remastered sound, contains three bonus tracks,16 page full colour booklet, new interviews, 3,000 word essay, enhanced artwork and rare photos.

TRACK LISTING: 1. MADALAINE 2. HUNGRY 3. SEVENTEEN 4. WITHOUT THE NIGHT 5. PURPLE HAZE 6. STATE OF EMERGENCY 7. TIME TO SURRENDER 8. POISON ANGEL 9. HANGIN ON 10. HEADED FOR A HEARTBREAK BONUS TRACKS: 11. HIGHER AND HIGHER 12. HEADED FOR A HEARTBREAK ('91 Remix) 13. NEVER

WINGER 'IN THE HEART OF THE YOUNG' CANDY258

WINGER'S DEBUT album was an immediate commercial and critical success, selling in excess of a million units and making front man Kip Winger's chiselled look a household name, rivalling even the popularity of Jon Bon Jovi. At that point in time almost every teenage girl in the USA probably had a poster of him adorning their bedroom wall and every aspiring male rocker wanted to lead a band just as good as his.
For this follow-up album, titled 'In The Heart Of The Young', Kip retained all the positive points of his debut's success, with no changes to either band members or his producer Beau Hill, except that this time around they elected to record in Los Angeles rather than New York City. It was a good move as the album increased the band's fire and passion, bringing together eleven tracks of superior melodic rock goodness. The sound was sharp, the hooks were huge and the songs were as every bit on the money as first time around.
Kip's familiar husky roar wraps itself around classic tracks such as 'Can't Get Enuff', 'Easy Come, Easy Go' and 'Miles Away', whilst the rhythm section pounds away in a manner befitting some of the world's most successful hard rock acts like Whitesnake and Def Leppard. No wonder that this record went on to achieve Platinum status and beyond.

Special Deluxe Collector's Edition, fully remastered sound, contains two bonus tracks, 16 page full colour booklet, new interviews, 3,000 word essay, enhanced artwork and rare photos.

TRACK LISTING: 1. CAN'T GET ENUFF 2. LOOSEN UP 3. MILES AWAY 4. EASY COME EASY GO 5. RAINBOW IN THE ROSE 6. IN THE DAY WE'LL NEVER SEE 7. UNDER ONE CONDITION 8. LITTLE DIRTY BLONDE 9. BAPTIZED BY FIRE 10. YOU ARE THE SAINT, I AM THE SINNER 11. IN THE HEART OF THE YOUNG BONUS TRACKS: 12. ALL I EVER WANTED 13. CAN'T GET ENUFF (Edit)

HONEYMOON SUITE 'MONSTERS UNDER THE BED' CANDY231

THERE'S NO getting away from it, Honeymoon Suite had an amazing run of good fortune during their hey-day, the late 1980s, notching up not just hit albums but also hit singles and touring the world with impressive results. Not only were they busy being commercially successful but artistically they were also improving with each record, refining and honing their craft to new heights.
'Monsters Under The Bed', originally issued in 1991, was the band's fourth and arguably their greatest album thus far. Written over an extended period of time and containing some of their best songs and melodies, the record was stuffed to rafters with hooks and riffs of a magnitude that dwarfed previous efforts. Overseen by British-born production and engineering wizard Paul Northfield (Rush, Queensryche, Dream Theater) at Le Studio, Morin Heights in Quebec, the album is blessed with a widescreen pop rock appeal that dwarfed the competition, making the likes of Bon Jovi, Loverboy and Bryan Adams sound like puny undernourished upstarts.
In amongst the fun filled contents are sparkling gems such as 'Next To You', 'Say You Don't Know Me' and the utterly brilliant 'If Ya Love Me', a contender for one of the greatest melodic hard rock anthems of all time. Man of the match is vocalist Johnnie Dee but that's not to the denigrate any of the other members, especially guitarist Derry Grehan who guitar work explodes and growls like a caged tiger.

Special Deluxe Collector's Edition, fully remastered sound, 12 page full colour booklet, new interviews, 3,000 word essay, enhanced artwork and rare photos.

TRACK LISTING: 1. SAY YOU DON'T KNOW ME 2. BRING ON THE LIGHT 3. IF YA LOVE ME 4. THE ROAD 5. LITTLE SISTER 6. HOW LONG 7. COME (LET ME TAKE YOU THERE) 8. MIRACLE 9. IT'S ONLY LOVE 10. NEXT TO YOU 11. STAND ALONE 12. ALL I WANTED

SAMMY HAGAR Talks To RollingStone About Van Halen, Chickenfoot & Circle

Artist:

SAMMY HAGAR has given an new interview to RollingStone, who posted the interview overnight.
The star vocalist touches on his new live band line-up, dubbed “Circle” as well as Chickenfoot and Van Halen.

Highlights include:

His new live lineup Circle: “As far as I'm concerned, that's my new house band. It's me, Jason Bonham, Michael Anthony and Vic Johnson. We call ourselves the Circle because this band has kinda taken me full circle in my career. I can play from every era, from Montrose to Van Halen to solo, Chickenfoot and some Led Zeppelin. In Chickenfoot, we didn't play songs by the Chili Peppers or Van Halen, but the Circle plays my whole world and everyone else's world that's in the band. It's been really special so far.”

New music with Chickenfoot: “Joe [Satriani] is my favorite writer to work with since Eddie [Van Halen.] I'd rather write a record with him than anyone else, but I don't see any reason to make a new record. Going through the whole experience with a record label, and then going out and doing 150 interviews, a big tour and waking up at 4:00 a.m. to go on Howard Stern all to sell 35,000 CDs…It starts to feel like, "Hmmmm. Is this pay for play?"
I mean, I love making music. But doing it on Chickenfoot's level means spending a half million on a record. We write and record for six months. It's a lot of work, and then to not sell many records. It's disappointing. I don't like being disappointed. I like winning.”

Van Halen: “I would play with anybody that loves me and that I love. That would include Van Halen, but the love's not there right now. I do love those guys. We really bumped heads on the last tour [in 2004.] Anyone that saw that last tour or read my book knows that I'm not gonna take any blame 'cause there's no blame to give me. I went out and did my job probably better than anyone else in that band. Anyone that saw the show, I think, would agree with me.
That tour was just a mess and I would never go into a mess like that again. I'm too happy as a human being to be that miserable ever again. I was miserable for the last 40 shows. The first 40 shows I was thinking, "Well, maybe Eddie will straighten out" or "Maybe this can come together." But that didn't happen, and by the last 40 I was miserable. I would, however, be in the original band that we started. That was a love fest full of creativity.”

The 2004 Van Halen Reunion: “I made it through a reunion tour that was just about the most dysfunctional thing I've ever done in my adult life, times 10. But I made it through. There's something funny about a concert. They can work for dysfunctional bands. You can get into a fistfight backstage. You can get into a fistfight the night before. You can be trashed, lying on the ground, feeling like you're dying. But when you drag your ass on the stage and 15,000 people are screaming with their hands in the air, you get revitalized. Then you look at the guy next to you, the guy whose neck you want to break, and you think, "This is good. I can tolerate this." When the show is over, you go back to fighting. And then there's the money. But, look, a lot of bands are in that situation.”

SAVILLE ROW Debut Featuring Troy Lucckette, Marc Bonilla & Mika Greiner

Saville Row began in 2011 when Troy Luccketta, drummer for the legendary band, Tesla, introduced Mika Greiner, former lead singer of the West Coast band, Redline 5, to Marc Bonilla (Toy Matinee, Keith Emerson Band), a prominent guitarist and composer in the L.A. Music scene. Marc and Mika began writing material in between television and movie projects and brought in Troy to handle drums and assist with the recording process.

The trio was now ready to expand to a full band and needed to recruit a fourth member to complete the lineup. After an exhaustive search, they found bassist, Travis Davis, who had responded to a national ad. The newly-founded Saville Row have spent the last 3 years honing their musical chemistry through recording and live performance and are preparing for the August release of their debut album, The Way Around It, with producer, Ryan Greene (Dishwalla).

Currently, the band’s song, “Last Goodbye,” has been featured twice on the hit show, Justified, and they have also been internationally featured on the NBC hit show, Las Vegas, with their ballad, “Hard To Let Go,” both of which have created a groundswell of reaction from viewers coast to coast and overseas.

Saville Row is:
Marc Bonilla: Guitars, Keyboards, Backing Vocals
Troy Luccketta: Drums, Percussion
Mika Greiner: Lead & Backing Vocals

Travis Davis: Backing Vocals

Track List:

FNA Records Releases BRUNETTE Rarities on 2 CDs

In a few short years, the band had amassed a vast and varied catalog of demo recordings which can now be heard here on the FnA Records (www.fnarecords.net) new releases entitled DEMOS 1989-1990 and Rough Demos

PRE-Hardline band Brunette release two albums on FnA Records

Undoubtedly, Brunette was one of Hollywood’s greatest unsigned treasures; despite the fact that every big-wig A&R guy had the 80’s hard rock band on their radar.  The coveted major label deal was just around the corner, and Brunette had definitely paid their dues.  Relentless cross-country touring, Standing-room only showcases, sold out shows, and ingenious marketing schemes had the band prepared to jump to the next level.  Unfortunately for Brunette, the oft-used excuse of “Creative Differences” stopped this fast moving machine dead in its tracks.

In 1987, The Gioeli brothers had put together a solid powerhouse band that went by the name of Killerhit in Pennsylvania.  On the advice of good friend and fellow Pennsylvania native Bret Michaels (Poison), they packed up their bags and headed out to Los Angeles where their cream of the crop craftsmanship could be better noticed.  When they got to L.A., they had taken notice that the most successful bans all had a blonde front man.  Since they didn’t follow the well-recognized blue print of having a blonde lead singer, let alone a blonde in the entire band, they changed their name to Brunette.

The band also struck down the blue-print of taking every gig you could get in Hollywood.  Instead, they played once every other month which created a great demand and led to many Sold Out shows.  In between those L.A. gigs, the band didn’t just sit idle, instead they criss-crossed the country building a name for the band in all markets. This was definitely a hard-working band.

In 1988, Brunette masterfully executed an ingenious marketing campaign.  They hired a plane to fly banners (which read “Brunette Rocks” and “Brunette Attacks in August”) over the L.A. Coliseum during Van Halen’s set at the Monsters of Rock Festival, exposing 90,000 plus onlookers to the band.  Also, speaking of Van Halen, Brunette would eventually break Van Halens all-time single-weekend attendance record at Gazzari’s night club.

In a few short years, the band had amassed a vast and varied catalog of demo recordings which can now be heard here on the FnA Records (www.fnarecords.net) new releases entitled DEMOS 1989-1990 and Rough DemosDemos 1989-1990 have stellar recordings of the bands most popular songs while Rough Demos showcase some rough recordings and the direction the band was heading.  The song “Hot Cherie”, later done by Hardline, is also featured on Rough Demos.  Be sure to head over to FnA Records and pick up these two must not miss CD’s!!!

At the top of their game, Brunette called it quits due to Creative Differences.  This would lead to the Gioeli Brothers teaming up with Neal Schon (Journey) and the creation of the Melodic band HARDLINE and their MCA released album Double Eclipse

Johnny Gioeli would later go onto sing for Axel Rudi Pell and most notably became the singing voice of the cartoon character Sonic The Hedgehog. Other members of Brunette went on to work with Vince Neil, Bangaloire Choir, Cinderella and Big House.

So here we are, 25 years in the making, and the fans are getting what they have long been asking for, two official releases on FnA Records (www.fnarecords.net

FREAK KITCHEN Release 'Freak Of The Week' Video

It's been a long time coming, but Freak Kitchen are very excited to release the incredible animated video for the new single 'Freak Of The Week'.

You can check out the amazing clip for 'Freak Of The Week' here;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2vzBdIejVY

'Freak Of The Week' sees the vision hugely talented artist Juanjo Guarnido come to life in this startlingly potent video.

The band have been blown away by Guarnido's amazing work and have this to say about the project;

'Ladies and Gentlemen! This is it - the moment of truth! "Freak of the Week", the animated video by our beloved Juanjo Guarnido is unleashed! We can't really fathom this, to tell you the truth... It's a quite surreal experience to see our good selves animated in such a grand way after all the painstaking work of Guarnido and his enormously dedicated team. We sincerely hope you will dig this as much as we do and support Juanjo and team as much as you can.'

The artist himself adds; 'After almost a year of exhausting work, with moments of disappointment and anxiety, but mainly made of enthusiasm and marked by the exhilarating pleasure of practicing that beautiful and noble art of hand-drawn animation, WE MADE IT. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say that the effort brought in by my team was simply colossal. Particularly by that selfless squad (Julien, Mandy, Yann, I owe you big time) who stood up night after night so we could bring the project to you today. From the bottom of my heart, thanks to all of you who, often for free, contributed to the movie with your work, your talent and your enthusiasm. To Steve Morger for the precious help. To Freak Kitchen for inspiring and supporting this adventure. And especially to Fortiche Studio and Pascal Charrue for making this dream come true.'

The amazing new album 'Cooking With Pagans' is out now!

We are pleased to announce the forthcoming release of the sixth Album from SILVER, entitled “Idolized” on 24.10.2014!

The SILVER history began in 2001 when Gary Barden (MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, PRAYING MANTIS, STATETROOPER) and Michael Voss (CASANOVA, BONFIRE, MAD MAX, DEMON DRIVE) first met and started to join forces with Andreas Broon (SISTERS OF MERCY/DORO) to write the songs for the legendary first SILVER album.

Don Airey on keyboards (DEEP PURPLE, OZZY OSBOURNE, RAINBOW, MSG, GARY MOORE), Bernie Torme on guitars (GILLAN, OZZY OSBOURNE) and Marco Minnemann on drums (H-BLOCKX) completed this first line-up.

Now, after 5 successful albums and a very short Break of nearly ten years it's time for a brandnew record! Once again producer Michael Voss team up with songwriter genius Andreas Broon and those guys are really diggin' for gold!

The Billy Idol style rocker "Hope" is the perfect journey into the glorious 80ies. With the empathic opener "Sarah" or the duet with german musical star Michaela Schober on "Drag us down" the SILVER guys add a new dimension to their sound – very british – very cool – something unexpected!

SILVER also comes up with a song that's a classic radio hit, a song that definitely needs to be released as a single – "Counting".

Following 5 Albums with Gary Barden on Vocals, the new album “Idolized” offers a change in that Michael Voss takes over all vocal duties for the first time. Voss also performs all instrumentation on “Idolized”

Special Guests are Lisa Middelhauve (Ex – Xandria) and Michaela Schober.

JOE PERRY’S
‘ROCKS: MY LIFE IN AND OUT OF AEROSMITH’
SITS IN TOP TEN
ON THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER LIST
FOR INITIAL TWO WEEKS OF RELEASE
BOOK ENTERS THE CHART AT #8
AND REMAINS AT #10 IN WEEK TWO

Since its October 7 release, JOE PERRY’s ROCKS: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith (Simon & Schuster) has spent its initial two weeks on the prestigious NEW YORK TIMES bestseller list.  ROCKS entered the charts at #8 and remained in the Top Ten (#10) in week two.  In the book, PERRY shares--with total candor and without apology--what life is like as the lead guitarist and co-head writer of Aerosmith
Perry has been in high demand, completing a cross-country book tour with multiple nights in New York, his Boston hometown (three in-stores), Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles and a stop at The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland. He has been equally busy with top-tier broadcast appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, CBS This Morning, Fox & Friends, Tavis Smiley, and Larry King alongside popular national radio including Howard Stern and Imus In The Morning.

Here’s some initial critical feedback on ROCKS:

“Well-paced [and] well-plotted. … Perry’s anecdotes could have been flown in from some ace rock ’n’ roll-centric novel, and do more than amuse; the best enlighten, not just about this band and the partnership at the core of it, but the very nature of creativity itself. … A mini-masterpiece, a term that, scaled back a touch further still, describes this able memoir.”
--THE BOSTON GLOBE, 10-7-14

“Perry provides evocative portraits of his very American youth… The years of rock and roll notoriety are standard issue—drugs, partying, bad decisions—although the story shines on those rare occasions when Perry details the nuts and bolts of song making. Later chapters covering the manipulations of a Svengali-like producer have their own allure, as do the discussions of the complexity and expense of producing hits. … Perry’s book will strike gold with every Aerosmith fan.”
--PUBLISHERS WEEKLY, 7-14-14

“Joe Perry reflects on his roller coaster of a life.”
--PARADE, 10-14-14

“With unvarnished candor, he tells his side of the toxicity.”
--SALON.com/The Weeklings, 10-7-14

“The book stays true to Joe’s personality, offering a thoughtful, no-nonsense look at the highs and lows--followed by more highs and lows--of Aerosmith’s fascinating history.”
--EXAMINER.com, 10-7-14

“An honest reflection of the life and career of one of rock’s all-time greats. Perry pulls no punches in detailing the rise, fall and second coming of one of the greatest American rock bands. … Rocks really shines in its ability to showcase a different side of human nature and just what it takes to get along.”
--GUITAR WORLD, 10-8-14

“Revealing.”
--GIBSON, 10-7-14

“[Perry] chronicles the sometimes-turbulent 40-plus-year history of Aerosmith, which is what fans would hope. But beyond that, the 64-year-old artist's delightfully readable tome is the story of the boy who grew into the man who grew into the rock star who grew into the father and husband he is.”
--LOS ANGELES NEWSPAPER GROUP, 10-12-14

“Perry is candid in detailing his sojourn in one of the most famously debauched-then-reborn--and debauched again, and reborn again--bands in history.”
--THE BOSTON GLOBE, 10-5-14

“Brutally honest …. [a] delightfully readable tome.”
--CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER, 10-14-14

Beginning with a foreword by Johnny Depp ROCKS is both a study in brotherhood and solitude.  Throughout the book, Perry reflects on the people who stood beside him during the highs and lows as he and Aerosmith skyrocketed into a world of fame and utter excess. Before he was one half of the “Toxic Twins,” Perry was a science-obsessed kid who dreamed of becoming a marine biologist. His loving, supportive parents encouraged his curiosity and sent him to Vermont Academy where his love for rock and roll grew, along with his obsession for the guitar. Within weeks of graduating from Vermont Academy, Perry dropped out for refusing to cut his hair. By 1970, Perry and Tom Hamilton had been playing together for two years when they decided to move to Boston, rent an apartment and fill it with a band that we know today as Aerosmith. Aerosmith--featuring Steven Tyler, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford alongside Perry and Hamilton--signed with Columbia Records in 1972.

In Perry’s own words, ROCKS tells the whole story--“the loner’s story, the band’s story, the recovery story, the cult story, the love story, the success story, the failure story, the rebirth story, the re-destruction story, and the post-destructive rebirth story”--of what came to pass over the next five decades and details the perks and perils that go hand-in-hand with an extreme rock and roll lifestyle. With over 100 photographs showing Perry’s life on- and off-stage, “[ROCKS] will strike gold with every Aerosmith fan” (Publishers Weekly).

GENESIS

OFFICIAL CAREER-SPANNING DOCUMENTARY SUM OF THE PARTS TO BE RELEASED ON JANUARY 13 ON EAGLE VISION

New York, NY (October 28, 2014)—After more than 300 million album sales, the current rediscovery of the hugely successful and influential Genesis continues with the DVD and Blu-ray release of an official career-spanning documentary Sum of the Parts which will be released on January 13, 2015 on Eagle Vision.

Featuring contributions from key members past and present Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford and Anthony Phillips, as well as a wealth of archive performance footage of the band’s biggest tracks and fan favorites, this first official study of the band’s history commences with their formation at Charterhouse in 1967 and reunites the band for the first time in many years.

Produced by Eagle Rock Film Productions and directed by John Edginton, the film recounts an extraordinary musical story, exploring the band’s song writing as well as emotional highs and lows, alongside previously unseen archive material and rare performance footage from across their entire career.

Sum of the Parts explores the dynamic between the band members that have enabled them to survive numerous line-up changes alongside solo careers outside of the band.

The remarkable story encompasses their visionary influence as the leading lights of progressive rock with landmark albums such as Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway; the huge crossover success of the Eighties and Nineties which saw them hit the upper reaches of the singles charts with era-defining hits such as “Turn It On Again,” “Invisible Touch,” “No Son of Mine,” and “I Can’t Dance”; and through to their 2007 Turn It On Again comeback tour which included a show in front of 500,000 people at Rome’s Circo Massimo.

Sum of the Parts contains the BBC’s Together and Apart documentary, which aired on October 4. It adds more than 30 minutes of previously unseen footage, and represents the perfect DVD and Blu-ray companion to the 3CD anthology R-Kive which was released by Warner Music Group / Rhino on September 30.

“We’re the only band, I think, that have managed the solo thing and the band thing for quite a few years side-by-side, and made it a plus rather than a problem,” says Mike Rutherford. Peter Gabriel concurs: “I think when we got it right we had something that none of us could do on our own. And there were different musical histories merging together in a powerful way.”

Tony Smith, Genesis Manager: “It’s fascinating to see the breadth, diversity and worldwide success of the songs and compositions that have come from this one group of people, in this truly unique film”

In terms of what they’ve done together, and what they’ve done apart, there’s never been a band like Genesis. It’s a captivating story, told here from the beginning for the first time.

Shaft of Steel collaborate with Dennis Ward on debut record; Lyric video for ‘Drive’ released

Debut EP ‘Shaft of Steel’ OUT NOW.

British melodic metal / AOR group Shaft of Steel are gearing up to release their debut EP, which features vocal contributions from respected American producer and musician Dennis Ward.

Ward, famous for being the bass player in legendary German hard rockers Pink Cream 69 (and, more recently, melodic metal supergroup Unisonic), who also has a lengthy list of production credits under his belt, including Krokus, Sunstorm, Place Vendome, Eden’s Curse, House of Lords, Fergie Fredericksen, Bob Catley, Angra and Harry Hess’s First Signal, has performed backing vocals for all tracks on the debut CD from this new London, UK-based act.

Guitarist and founding member Alex Markham states, “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Dennis. I’m a huge fan of everything he’s done and it was like a dream come when I first heard the backing choirs he recorded for our songs. I’m so happy with how this EP has turned out.”

The eponymous debut EP has also been mastered by Ward and features cover art by Colombian graphic designer Felipe Machado Franco, who has previously designed artwork for Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Rhapsody of Fire, Iron Savior and Jorn.

“We’ve worked really hard on finishing this EP over the last year and we feel we’ve really upped our game where the songwriting and production is concerned,” says Markham. “Getting Dennis Ward involved was obviously a key turning point for us, but we’ve also matured a lot as songwriters since we started out. We were more like a straight-ahead power metal band in the beginning, but now we’ve incorporated AOR, prog and other hard rock influences and we’ve taken these songs to a whole new level. I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved.”

A lyric video for ‘Drive’, the lead track from the EP, has been posted on YouTube and can also be viewed on the band’s official website – www.shaftofsteel.com. The EP will be released as a digital download through iTunes, Amazon and all other major digital music retailers. A CD can be ordered directly from the band’s website.
